Christmas Day Palolem

Not content with bringing us himself and lots of lovely pressies, our dear friend Capes insisted on preparing us lots of nice things for Christmas day, part 2, in a Goan style. Handily he had already purchased a plethora of stainless steel tableware for the tasty treats to go in.

Here he is slaving away over an excess of marble in the Palolem apartment's kitchen.

Chop that Cheddar cheese. The food miles for this meal would be astronomical, but it's ok really as it all just hitched a lift in Caper's bag.

On the beach at Palolem.

Vainly trying not to make a mess of the Champers that Caper had so carefully brought over.

There we go. I didn't spill a drop.

The ice-bucket with beers in was a controversial proposal from Capes, but we conceded it was necessary in the scorching heat and thoroughly appreciated it, even if I nearly got frostbite carrying it down.

Woot and yay! We even managed to persuade some poor sunburnt Brit to take a piccy of all three of us.

Clair's home made Christmas-cracker hats in Borneo had looked the part, but Capes had bought the real thing. Here's the lady winning her effort. Somehow her prize was never found...the poor thing. I on the other hand, won a fortune-telling fish!

Intense cracker concentration.

Capes sporting his super prize of a tiny plastic thimble. Just look at that excitement.

Our alternative Christmas story featured just two kings, but also had one queen and a bit of trance music.

The icy bucket. Caper even went to the trouble of freezing whole bottles of water, which he then attacked them with pen-knives to create huge icy lumps that kept us cold for hours.

Oh hi! Check out those rickety looking beach shacks in the background.

Action shot! Lunging for a pickled-onion...

And what naturally follows.

Bringing the nets in.

This was the place we had our little picnic in front of. The lady running it seemed slightly incredulous that we didn't need anything from her at all.

Clairy...eating Marmite...on a beach in Goa. Who'd a thunk it eh?

MMMmmm...pickled onions. They were really good ones too with that malty sweet flavour.

Cheers!

A cheesy-chunked ritz sandwich. Just the right size for my tiny mouth.

I really like this pic.

And Clairy was particularly pleased with this one looking into Capes' stainless-steel cup.

Somewhat appropriately I think I bear a bit of a resemblance to Dr Zeuss' the grinch who stole Christmas.

Awww...Kingfishers at sunset.

As the sun went down Clair snapped some drop-dead gorgeous pics of the comings and goings.

I love this one. What great posture.

A familiar sight, the gun-toting police. Just making their presence felt.

And to cap off the beautiful sunset. 'Dooogy...that's gross. Get the hell out of here!'

Caper going for a swim. I'm pretty sure he didn't tread on it on the way in though.

Cheers Caper for making such a superb effort. We really enjoyed our Goan Christmas experience!
